 International cooperation of the Department of Oriental Studies

The specificity and profile of the training of the Department of Oriental Studies determines the important role of the international aspect of its activities.

Since its inception in 2000 (after the restructuring of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, established in 1999), the Department has been developing international cooperation in several directions:

1. Invitation of foreign experts from the studied countries. In 2020-2022 visiting professors from the countries of the studied language worked at the department: PhD An Sang Hoon (Donkuk University, Republic of Korea), PhD Magdi Hassanin Elhanafi (Tanta University, Egypt), specialist Marzie Sadat Razavi (Allameh Tabatabai University, Iran), independent a specialist from Japan, Takumi Ishivatari, who contributed to improving the quality of training of future orientalists in the Arabic, Persian, Korean and Japanese departments, in particular, in the teaching of philological disciplines.

Foreign professors of the Department of Oriental Studies are invited as from among the partner universities of the ENU. L.N. Gumilyov, and other universities of the countries of the East in the areas of preparation of the department (Arab countries, the Republic of Korea, Iran, Japan, China).

2. Cooperation with universities and research centers of the countries of the East, both from among partners and non-partners of ENU. The department maintains cooperation with various universities and research institutes of foreign countries, among them - the Confucius Institute in Nur-Sultan, the Department of Oriental Studies, African Studies and International Relations of the Institute of International Relations of the Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University, the Department of the Uzbek Language and Classical Oriental Literature of the International Islamic Academy Uzbekistan, the Elger Center and the Department of the Azerbaijani Language and Literature of the Department of Modern Turkic Languages ​​and Literature of the Natural and Humanitarian Faculty of the Caucasian University (Turkey, Kars), Center for Islamic Studies named after. King Faisal (Riyadh, Saudi Arabia), Center (Fund) for Information and Arab-Russian Studies (KSA), etc.

On September 25, 2021, at the Faculty of International Relations, at the initiative of the Department of Oriental Studies, in an online format, together with the Scientific and Educational Center "ELGER" at the Caucasus University (Kars, Turkey), the International Scientific Conference "Past and Future of the Turkic World" was held, in which was attended by more than 50 representatives of the scientific and academic circles of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkey. On February 27, 2022, together with the ELGER Scientific and Educational Center at the Caucasus University (Kars, Turkey), Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University and Nakhchivan University, the XXIII International Scientific Symposium "Integration of cultures and multiculturalism.

October 11, 2021 at L.N. Gumilyov, a solemn event was held at which the start of the Persian language course was announced with the participation of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Kazakhstan Majid Sabers, teachers and students of the Persian department of the department.

On December 20, 2021, the teaching staff and students of the Persian department of the department took part in an event dedicated to the celebration of the Shab-e Yalda Day, which was organized by the Cultural Representation of Iran in Nur-Sultan.

On February 9, 2022, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Iranian Cultural Center and ENU.

On March 16, 2022, at the initiative of the senior teacher of the Department of Oriental Studies Akmaral Ualikhanovna Tyulyubaeva, the Nouruz holiday was organized with the members of the club of lovers of the Persian language and Iranian culture "Ariana". The event was attended by the director of the Iranian Cultural Center Ali Akbar Talebi Matin. 3rd and 4th year students and undergraduates in oriental studies took an active part.

On May 4, 2022, an exhibition of Iranian calligraphy by calligraphy master Mohsen Ibrahimi opened at ENU. The event was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Iran to Kazakhstan Majid Samadzade Saber, director of the Iranian Cultural Center Ali Akbar Talebi Matin, teachers of the Department of Oriental Studies and students of the Department studying Persian as the first and second oriental languages.

On September 7, 2021, the Embassy of Kuwait donated books and magazines to the Arabic department of the department.

October 13, 2021 acting professor of the department Z.S. Ilyasova and students of the Sh-21 group took part in the presentation of the book by A. Tarabik in Arabic, dedicated to the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, at the National Academic Library (1 copy was donated by the author to the Arabic studies cabinet). The event was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Egypt K.K. Lama Sharif, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Egypt to the Republic of Kazakhstan Manal Elsayed Yehia El Shinnawi.

On December 3, 2021, as part of the visit of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the Republic of Kazakhstan, Manal Elsayed Yehia El Shinnawi, the diplomat met with the teaching staff and students of the Arabic department of the department.

March 25, 2022 acting Professor of the Department of Oriental Studies S.A. Tuleubayeva took part in the event, which was organized at the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan jointly with the Embassy of Egypt in Kazakhstan on the occasion of the celebration of the Women's Day of Egypt as part of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the ARE, where she made a presentation on the life and work of the famous Egyptian singer Umm Kulthum. The event was also attended by students and undergraduates of the Arabic department of the department.

On May 17, 2022, the student club of Japanese language lovers "Mononoke" of ENU summed up the results of the 2021-2022 academic year and organized a farewell ceremony for university graduates. The event was attended by Deputy Diplomatic Representative, Advisor Kanata Tomohiro, First Secretary of the Department of Culture, Education, Information of the Embassy of Japan in the Republic of Kazakhstan Kinoshita Yuya, teachers and students of the Department of Oriental Studies.

3. Cooperation with the embassies of various countries of the East, accredited in Nur-Sultan. The Department of Oriental Studies is actively developing its relations with the embassies of various countries of the East (Iran, Pakistan, South Korea, Japan, China, Arab countries - Palestine, Egypt, Morocco, Lebanon, KSA, UAE, Oman, Kuwait, Jordan, Libya, Iraq, Qatar ), as well as with the Iranian and Korean Cultural Centers by holding joint meetings and events with representatives of the East, as well as by participating in events organized by the embassies of Eastern countries in Nur-Sultan.

Ambassadors of various countries of the East, as well as employees of the embassies of these countries, regularly give lectures at the ENU. L.N. Gumilyov (Palestine, Lebanon, Libya, Iraq, Jordan, Morocco, Japan, Republic of Korea, Kuwait, Egypt, Iran, Thailand, etc.).

4. Other activities.

- The teaching staff of the department also takes part in various international conferences organized abroad in online and offline formats.

 

- The students of the departments take language courses, country studies internships in the countries of the language being studied, both within the framework of the academic mobility program, and on the basis of grants provided by the countries of the East and at their own expense.
