ENU representatives returned after participating in the BRI event

Oriental Studies students from ENU took part in the BR event.

 

Today (04.09.2023), the staff and students of the Department of Oriental Studies at L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University (ENU) participated in an event celebrating the 10th anniversary of the "Belt and Road" initiative. The event took place at the Beijing Palace Hotel in the Silk Road Hall, organized by the Broadcasting Center for Europe and Asia (publishing house "People's Daily") in conjunction with the Shandong Television and Radio Station. The theme of the event was "Deepening Media Cooperation, Strengthening Friendship on the Silk Road - Chinese-Kazakh Dialogue on Cooperation of Regional Media for the 10th Anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative."

 

The event was attended by high-ranking representatives from leading media organizations, as well as experts from top analytical centers in China and Kazakhstan. The event was hosted by Ms. Sun Shan, Senior Editor of Shandong Television and Radio Station. Welcoming speeches were delivered by Ms. Wang Tao, Counselor and Charge d'Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Kazakhstan, Mr. Si Yanchun, Deputy Head of the Propaganda Department of the Shandong Provincial Party Committee, Mr. Liu Peng, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of Shandong Television and Radio Station, and Ms. Gulnar Shaimergenova, Director of the China Studies Center at ENU. Framework agreements on humanitarian cooperation and exchange of experiences in the field of media were signed during the event.

 

Various speakers addressed the topic of humanitarian cooperation, including Elena Romaikina, Deputy Director of the "Delovoy Kazakhstan" newspaper; Aiman Azmukhanova, professor at the Department of Oriental Studies at ENU; Yu Shanshan, Head of the Broadcasting Center for Europe and Asia (publishing house "People's Daily") of the National Office for Publishing and Distribution of Foreign Language Literature; Erik Kuatov, Head of Projects at Kazakhstan Today; Anton Bugaenko, sinologist and Head of the Chinese Studies Program at the Eurasian Association of International Studies; Liu Heyan, Chief Executive Director of the documentary film "Mount Tai Shan"; Temirlan Makhmetov, Assistant Representative of the China Chamber of Commerce in Kazakhstan; and Kanat Beisengazin, Editor-in-Chief of the "Foliant" Publishing House. The speeches aimed to create a platform for sincere communication and knowledge sharing, with the goal of promoting humanitarian cooperation between countries along the Belt and Road.

 

The students of Oriental Studies, who are future sinologists studying from the 1st to the 4th year, as well as master's students, expressed their satisfaction and deep interest in the "Belt and Road" project.
