An extensive delegation from among the representatives of the Pakistan Embassy in Kazakhstan, the media and invited experts from the Islamic Republic of Pakistan visited our university

As part of international cooperation, an extensive delegation from among the representatives of the Pakistan Embassy in Kazakhstan, the media and invited experts from the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, led by the Deputy of Director General of the Government of Pakistan, Mr. Seyid Arif Yehsan Kazmi, visited L. N. Gumilyov ENU on May 12, 2018,

The delegation also included a military Attache of the Pakistan Embassy, Brigadier General Shakil Faridi; Deputy Director General of the Government of Pakistan, Lead Specialist of the External Resources Department of the Ministry of Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Mr. Abdul Rakib; Director for the coordination of the media of the IRP, Mr. Rafi Ullah Khan and a number of representatives of Pakistan's largest media.

The delegation was warmly greeted by the universities authorities in the person of Vice-rector for International Relations and Innovations Somzhurek Baubek Zhumashuly, dean of the Faculty of International Relations of Zholdasbekova Akbota Niyazovna, Dean of the Faculty of Journalism and Political Science Sak Kairat Omirbayevich and the staff of teachers, doctoral students and students of both faculties.

The planned joint events began with a short excursion to the L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University. In particular, the guests visited the LN Gumilyov museum and the Turkic writing museum, leaving very positive feedback on the establishment of centuries-old culture and statehood on the territory of present-day Kazakhstan and adjacent regions.

In addition, delegation’s members visited the Center of Culture and Language of Pakistan, which operates since September 2011, on the basis of the Faculty of International Relations and operates with the assistance of the Embassy of Pakistan in Kazakhstan. Here, all those who wish from the number of students and teachers have an opportunity to get acquainted with the history and culture of Pakistan, to study the official language of this country – Urdu. Moreover, the guests were interested in the work of the TV studio of the university as a training ground for the practical consolidation of the skills of future specialists in the field of the media.

In the course of the round table that followed the excursion with the participation of the incoming experts and the ENU team, Baubek Zhumashuly, Vice-Rector for International Relations and Innovation, delivered a welcoming speech. He thanked the members of the Pakistani delegation for the honor given and on behalf of the University leadership expressed their readiness for cooperation in the future.

Then, with an interesting report on the history of the formation of statehood and the modern development of Pakistan, as well as its role in regional integration and international relations, the head of the Pakistan delegation, the Deputy Director General of the Government of Pakistan, Mr. Seyyid Arif Yehsan Kazmi demonstrated a video with the accompanying training video materials.

Also interesting was the presentation of the military Attache of the Pakistan Embassy, Brigadier General Shakil Faridi.

The military expert described the current state of international and regional security, the key subject of which is Pakistan, outlined the main challenges to security in the region and in the country itself and touched on the very painful for his country Kashmir and Afghan issues. At the same time, the attache noted that today Pakistan is at the forefront of the global fight against transnational terrorism, while continuing to make a special contribution to the UN peacekeeping activities and underlined the important role of Pakistan in ensuring global peace and prosperity.

Then came the speech of Dean of the Faculty of Journalism and Political Science Sak Kairat Omirbayevich, in which he reminded those present that in the distant 1920s and 1930s, during the period of collectivization, mass famine and political repression, thousands of families fled to the neighboring territories and by fate many families found themselves in the territory of British India. After the republic proclamation of Pakistan and received permission to leave, the Kazakhs got the opportunity to move further to Iran, Turkey and the countries of Europe, thus forming the Kazakh diaspora in Europe. On behalf of the Kazakh people, Kairat Omirbaevich expressed gratitude to the Pakistani people for their assistance and sympathy to our compatriots in this difficult period for our history.

During the meeting, listeners from the number of teaching staff and university students expressed a keen interest in the speeches of the speakers. There was an exchange of opinions and interesting questions were asked.

In her closing remarks, moderator Akbota Niyazovna stressed the commonality of the historical and cultural traditions of our peoples and expressed her hope for strengthening and expanding cooperation. At the same time, the Dean of the International Relations Faculty shared her plans on the opening of the Pakistan-Kazakhstan Educational and Cultural Center at the University of Bahriya in Islamabad in the near future and called for close cooperation of representatives of the largest Pakistani media.

At the end of the visit, a mutual exchange of symbolic gifts was made and collective photography was conducted. This concludes the visit of the Pakistani delegation to the Eurasian National University.
