Julio Novillo Sanchez de Pedro hosts a seminar “Teaching Spanish Language focused on DELE exams”

On 8 May, 2020 lecturer Julio Novillo Sanchez de Pedro held an online seminar on Teaching Spanish Language focused on DELE exams. Lecturers from different specialties of the Department of Foreign Languages of the Faculty of International Relations attended the seminar. The following topics were discussed in the seminar, including what are DELE exams and why they are important. Teaching Spanish language focused on DELE exams should take into count the six levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) from A1 to C2, as well as it is needed to get acquainted with some specific materials offered by different publishers specialized in Spanish as a foreign language.

DELE Spanish Diplomas are official titles certifying degree of competence and mastery of the Spanish language, granted by Spain’s Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport. The Instituto Cervantes organizes examination sessions.

L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University is one of the approximately 1000 DELE examination centers worldwide and one of the two centers in Kazakhstan (the other one is located in Almaty), which places this university in a very advantageous situation in the country. The ENU counts with some materials specifically designed to take DELE exams, and using them can be very helpful to prepare students of Spanish as a foreign language for it. Each year the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) allocates financial recourses for the acquisition of teaching materials destined to Ruy Gonzalez de Clavijo Spanish Center’s library under the Faculty of International Relations, L.N. Gumilyov ENU. In the last two years, 21 books (some of them with CD) have been purchased.
