On May 29, scientific and methodological seminar on "Modern Educational Technology in the English Classroom" was held by Kaliyeva A.B., Candidate of Pedagogic Sciences, Associate Professor at the Department of Foreign Languages.
The rapid spread of the mobile Internet and portable devices has opened a lot of technologies to the world. The possibilities of QR codes appliance in the educational process at the English classes were presented. Nowadays QR technologies have a huge pedagogical potential, which is not yet used in the educational process to the full extent.
A QR code (Quick Response) is a tiny data carrier, which stores textual information with the volume of about three thousand bytes. This data is encoded with special programs or services in the form of black and white or colored squares. These codes fully meet modern requirements for obtaining and disseminating information, making this process convenient, prompt and interactive.
In some form, students daily work with information, searching, processing, accumulating, transferring information, translating it from one form to another, etc. The use of services for different types of information processing, firstly, assists teachers, in educational activities; secondly, will lead to attracting the attention of students, their greater interest compared to traditional forms of learning and allows to increase their motivation.
Assel Bolatovna showed the possibilities of appliance of the system of QR codes in the educational process as the means of increase of students' motivation, and also the possibility of using cell phones in their practical work. Also the academic staff got acquainted with a lot of services and programs for QR-codes creation and promotion, possibilities of saving images of codes in different graphic formats (for example jpeg, png, tiff), printing, direct introduction of the code to the published document, sending by e-mail, publishing in the Internet network etc.
