Director of “Isticharia” for Strategic and Communications Studies Dr. Imad Rizk has delivered a lecture at L.N.Gumilev Eurasian National University

On April 17, 2018 the research fellows of “Isticharia” for Strategic and Communications Studies (ISCS) of Lebanon Dr. Imad Rizk, Michel Nahas, Henri Bou Saab  and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Palestine to the Republic of Kazakhstan Mr. Montaser Abu Zeid have visited L.N.Gumilyov Eurasian National University.

During the visit, the Director of “Isticharia” for Strategic and Communications Studies Dr. Imad Rizk has delivered a lecture titled “The Situation in the Middle East and the Future Scenarios of the Syrian Conflict” for the faculty members and students of the Faculty of International Relations L.N.Gumilyov Eurasian National University.  

Dr. Imad Rizk has presented a comprehensive picture of the situation in the Middle East and Syrian conflict in particular. He stressed that the war in Syria is not a civil war but rather proxy war among the bigger regional players. Dr. Imad Rizk has emphasized that the parties have not been promoting the resolution of crisis rather they are implementing the management of crisis.

Furthermore, Dr. Imad Rizk has given a positive assessment of the Astana Process, which has already yielded some good results. By the same token, he noted the active mediating role of Kazakhstan and President Nursultan Nazarbayev in bringing Astana Process into fruition.

Moreover, Dr. Imad Rizk has stressed the role of the media in covering the situation in conflict-ridden regions and has given his view that the media should be trustworthy and impartial. In addition, he also emphasized the role of the analysts in assessing the international situations since they have an impact in making a policy.

Dr.Imad Rizk’s lecture was followed by interesting questions from the faculty members and the students of Oriental Studies major.
