The Faculty of International Relations celebrated the Day of “ÜILESIM”

On May 12, 2021, within the framework of the “Mereyli ay” programme dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the University, the Faculty of International Relations celebrated the Day of “ÜILESIM”. Taking into account the requirements of the pandemic situation in the country, the faculty organized a small-scale concert “The Eastern Spring” devoted to the anniversary. The Eastern Spring is an important holiday for all Turkic-speaking and Iranian-speaking peoples, Asia and Eastern Europe. This holiday is traditionally celebrated annually at the Faculty of International Relations. It is a holiday of renewal, love, kindness and joy.

At the opening ceremony the vice-rector for socio-cultural development of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University D. Kamzabekuly delivered a speech about the faculty’s development and history. Vice-rector for international cooperation A.N. Zholdasbekova dwelled on the development timeline of “The Eastern Spring” as a traditional holiday and congratulated the university on its anniversary. The dean of the faculty M.M. Kosybayev noted that the faculty has undergone development in the field of international cooperation, education and science, and expressed confidence that the university will continue to conquer further heights and expand cooperation.

As part of the event, the departments of the faculty arranged various concert performances: Abai’s song “Segiz ayak” accompanied on dombra, Rolf Lovland’s “Adagio” on violin, dances of different ethnicities and songs in Arabic, Chinese and Korean languages were also performed. Under the initiative of the Department of the People’s Assembly of Kazakhstan, the ethno-cultural centers of our country also brought their own festive atmosphere to the event. The dancers from the Hazar dance troupe of the Azerbaijani ethno-cultural center performed the Kazakh dance “Flowers of the Steppe,” while the dancers from the Uzbek ethno-cultural center presented the Uzbek dance “Tantama”. The faculty students also expressed their sincere congratulations on the anniversary in various foreign languages. 

The Eastern Spring is a flame that connects peoples of the East. This flame has not been extinguished for thousands of years, and in the future the sparks from this flame will surely unite thousands of people in terms of common cultural values. The spring sunshine of the Eurasia, Turkic and Eastern world is a gift of hope for the future!
