3rd place at the 1st Republican Oratory Competition in Arabic

A 4th year student of the Arabic department of the Department of Oriental Studies, Shadi Arsen took 3rd place at the 1st Republican Competition of Oratory in the Arabic Language, held on November 23, 2019 in Almaty at the Faculty of Oriental Studies of KazNU named after al-Farabi. The co-organizer of the event was the King Abdullah bin Abdelaziz International Center for Arabic Language Support.

 The verbal competition, which took place in three rounds, was attended by students of higher educational institutions of Kazakhstan, studying the Arabic language. Arsen single-handedly represented our university.

 The jury consisted of teachers from KazNU named after al-Farabi, Egyptian University of Islamic Culture “Nur-Mubarak” and invited foreign professors from among native speakers.

 Shadi Arsen speaks Kazakh, Russian, English, Turkish and Arabic, actively studies the Persian language, enjoys photography and video, composes poems in various languages. From the beginning of the school year, he took part in the conference “Arab Youth International Model of the United Nations”, held in Dubai from September 19 to 22, 2019, where he made a presentation in English on the topic “Disarmament agreement and internatioanl security” ( “Disarmament Agreement and International Security”), and also took 2nd place in the nomination “Poetry Competition” at the III All-Russian Student Olympiad in Arabic with international participation, which was organized on the basis of the Kazan (Volga) Federal University from 31 October November to November 1, 2019

 This is another victory and another contribution of Arsen to the list of achievements of the “Eurasian” school of oriental studies, which this year marks its 20th anniversary. In 1999, the third faculty of oriental studies in the republic, restructured in 2000 to the Department of Oriental Studies.
