Meeting of Educational and Methodical Association of Republican Educational and Methodical Council on the specialty "Turkology" was held on January 19 at the ENU

    On the 19th of January  a meeting of EMO WEMC took place on the specialty "5В021200, 6М021200, 6D021200 - Turkology". The Chair of the EMO is the rector of the L.N. Gumilyev Eurasian National University E. B. Sydykov. Deputy Chairman of the EMO is the first vice-rector for academic affairs A.A. Moldazhanova. The head of the "Turkology" specialty section is Professor M. Zholdasbekov, the Head of the Department of Turkic Studies.

   At the next meeting the following questions were on the agenda:

1. Consideration of the Draft Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan Concerning the Expansion of Academic and Management Independence of Higher Educational Institutions" and discussion of the articles of the draft Law on EMO and OP;

2. Development and evaluation of educational programs in the context of foreign experience and its application in the system of higher and postgraduate education of the Republic of Kazakhstan

3. Review and amend the catalog of elective disciplines of the Bachelor's, Master's and PhD (PhD) programs of the "Turkology" specialty, according to the main directions of the concept "Looking into the future: modernization of public consciousness".

   At the beginning of the meeting, the opening speech was taken by the head of the section M. Zholdasbekov, who stressed the importance of using the main conclusions of the presidential program "Rukhanizhangyru (Spiritual development)" for further reforms in postgraduate education. According to the professor in the preparation of educational programs of the specialty "Turkology" it is necessary to take into account and use the works of N.A. Nazarbayev "Edification of the Great Steppe" and "The Age of Independence".Furthemore he made suggestions on new discilines: “History of Kazakh culture”, “General history of Turkic peoples”, “General literature of Turkic peoples”.

   On the first question professors of the Department of Turkic studies A. Sharip and S.M. Syzdykov took a speech. According to their speech, proposals were made for amendments to the Draft Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Amendments and Additions to Some Legislative Acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Expansion of Academic and Management Independence of Higher Educational Institutions".

   The second question was made by the deputy director of the Department for Academic Affairs N.N. Nurmukhametov, who drew attention to the importance of compiling modules of educational programs, the electivity of elective disciplines, etc.

   The professor of the department of Turkic Studies M.K. Yesskeeva made a speech on the third question. The professor made suggestions on changing the catalog of elective disciplines. She also said that she supports the suggestions of M. Zholdasbekov on new disciplines.

   As a result of the meeting, resolutions were adopted on the issues on the agenda. The work was fruitful and rich. The next meeting of EMO WEMC is planned to be held in May 2018 on the topic "Turkology as a scientific and theoretical basis for the realization of the idea of “Mangilik El”.
