2023-2024 First session of Spanish Club

On September 25, 2023, the Spanish Club of the FIR Foreign Languages Department ​organized the opening first session for the 2023-2024 academic year with the support of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Spain to the Republic of Kazakhstan. The event was attended by the Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of Spain, H.E. Beatriz Muñoz González, Dean of the Faculty of International Relations, PhD M.M. Kossybayev, Deputy Dean for Educational Affairs Kussainova R.E., Head of the Spanish Club Michelle Gaibor Gracia, Senior Lecturer, coordinator for international cooperation of the faculty Saliyeva D.O., and the club members.

            During the first session, the club members introduced themselves, outlined their goals for learning Spanish, and discussed their interests in the culture and traditions of Spanish-speaking countries. Afterwards, the participants had the opportunity to delve into this culture through Spanish music and various musical genres. This approach allowed students to consolidate new vocabulary and expressions in Spanish, as well as practice their Spanish language skills.

            The Spanish club at the Resource Center for Language and Culture named after Ruy Gonzalez de Clavijo of the Kingdom of Spain was set up in February 2018 at L.N. Gumilyov ENU.

            Club goals:

-                    increasing student interest in the Spanish language;

-                    acquaintance with additional information about history, culture, customs and traditions of Spain;

Objectives:

-                                                        expand students’ communication skills in oral (speaking and listening comprehension) and written (reading and writing) forms of communication;

-                                                        to form speech, language, sociocultural competence in students;

-                                                        to create in students the need to improve their knowledge and independently work on the language;

-                                                        develop students’ linguistic culture, familiarize them with the realities of the countries of the language being studied;

-                                                        to cultivate respect for the way of life of the people of the country of the language being studied;

-                                                        cultivate a sense of tolerance.

            The participants of the session expressed an interest in participating in the upcoming events of the club:

2.            20 November 2023 – watching and discussing a Spanish film

3.            11 December 2023 – watching and discussing a Spanish film
