Research and leadership Bolashaq visiting scholars internship program experience

On January 24, 2023 a scientific and methodological seminar was held at the Foreign Languages Department under the guidance of the Head of the Foreign Languages Department, Faculty of International Relations Meirambekova Lyazat Kasymovna.

In the 2022 academic year, Meirambekova L.K. won a grant for “Research and leadership Bolashaq visiting scholars internship program”. This internship took place at the University of Minnesota, USA.

Founded in 1851 as a public land-grant university, the University of Minnesota is widely recognized as one of the top ten public research institutions in the USA. The

 University ranks 10th among public universities in research spending, with more than $1 billion annually.

The university mission, carried out throughout the state, is threefold: research and discovery, teaching and learning and outreach and public service.

The main campus is in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St.Paul.

Four coordinating campuses, Crookston, Duluth, Morris and Rochester, and fifteen regional extension offices.

At the seminar, Meirambekova L.K. shared her experience of completing a research internship at the College of Education and Human Development, which promotes and supports an active research and learning environment, and also introduced with the US higher education, the scientific and educational activities of American universities, syllabi and methodological documentation that are used in US universities.

During the scientific internship, the head of the Foreign Languages Department Meirambekova L.K. worked in collaboration with foreign professors and one-on-one with the assigned faculty mentor professor Vichet Chhuon to develop an individualized research agenda. Meirambekova L.K.  completed advanced training courses "Assessing language learners’ communication skills via authentic communicative performance tasks" with a certificate, at the Center for Advanced Research on Language Acquisition (CARLA), which is a research and resource center engaged in teaching methods and language learning. The lecturer took an active part at the conference “The Minnesota English Learner education” (2022 MELEd).

The lecturers of the department listened with interest to the speaker, the presentation of Meirambekova L.K. aroused genuine interest and there were many questions.

The scientific and methodological seminar was held at a high level. The teaching staff of the foreign languages department appreciate Lyazat Kasymovna Meirambekova for a meaningful presentation.
