Senior lecturer of the APK Department Zhuldyzai Iskakova took part in a regional training camp for girls on leadership, mentoring and gender equality in Uzbekistan

On November 10-12, 2021, a regional training camp for girls on leadership, mentoring and gender equality was held in the Tashkent region of Uzbekistan under the auspices of the Dialogue of Women Leaders of Central Asian Countries.

The event was organized by the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan jointly with the UN Development Program with the support of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia and the UN Women Structure.

The Kazakh delegation was represented by 5 participants, including Zhuldyzai Iskakova, senior lecturer of the APK Department, PhD in Political Science.

The training was aimed at increasing the potential of girls from Central Asian countries, developing their leadership skills for more active participation in the state and public life of the country and the region. The training was attended by representatives of education, science, business from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, a total of 30 people.

Welcoming speeches were delivered by the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Chairman of the Dialogue of Women Leaders of Central Asian Countries Tanzila Narbayeva and the UNDP Permanent Representative in Uzbekistan Matilda Dimovska.

During the training camp, the evolution of the role of women in the public and state life of Central Asian countries was discussed, information was heard about international norms aimed at ensuring gender equality, as well as the relevance of the global agenda "Women, peace and security".

As a result of the event, the participants of the regional training camp adopted an "Appeal" to the members of the Dialogue of Women Leaders of Central Asian countries, which includes proposals on supporting girls from the region, in particular, in terms of developing professional skills, leadership qualities, and expanding opportunities for them in various fields.
