Opening of the Hungarian language cabinet

On October 25, 2021, within the framework of the two-day Kazakh-Hungarian business forum, the Hungarian delegation visited the L.N.Gumilyov Eurasian National University. The official guests were met by the rector of the university, doctor of historical sciences, professor Yerlan Sydykov. The professor thanked the delegation for the visit and focused on cooperation between Kazakhstan and Hungary.

The head of the delegation, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Mihai Varga gave a lecture to the students and the teaching staff of the university, in which he spoke in detail about the state of the Hungarian economy after the pandemic.

Within the framework of the meeting, the minister opened the Hungarian language room, renovated with the support of the Hungarian embassy (room 235 in the main building of the university). Starting from this academic year, students of L.N.Gumilyov ENU are given the opportunity to study the Hungarian language. The opening of the office is the next significant step in the common history and in cooperation between the two countries. In his speech, Mihai Varga emphasized that recently the Hungarian scholarship program "Stipendium Hungaricum" has become very popular among Kazakhstani students of different directions. He also emphasized that studying for one or several semesters abroad is a very effective method for expanding horizons, worldview and gaining new knowledge that will further help students in their professional activities. This will allow the young generation to make a full contribution to the life of society and the development of the country.

Following the meeting, Mihai Varga was awarded the title of Honorary Professor of LN Gumilyov ENU. Taking this opportunity, we would like to note that the Hungarian language lecturer, visiting teacher of the Department of Turkology of the Faculty of International Relations, Zofia Siraki, is waiting for everyone in the Hungarian language room, equipped with modern technology and many of the latest editions in English, Russian and Hungarian. Hungarian Minister of Foreign and Foreign Economic Affairs Peter Siyjarto donated this small library to the university in April this year.
