Initiatives of cooperation between the Eurasian National University and the Ankara University of Social Sciences

Representatives of the ENU met with the lead of the Ankara University of Social Sciences and discussed the ways for further cooperation. (For reference: Ankara University of Social Sciences is one of the three research universities of the Republic of Turkey, and the only one in Ankara, which focus is social sciences and which gives priority to regional studies). At the meeting with the University Rector, Doctor, Professor Mehmet Barca, Head of the International Relations Department, Professor, Dr. Havva Kok Arslan and Professor, Chief Editor of theInsight Turkey” magazine Muhiddin Ataman, Director of the Center for Internationalization and the image Seyit Ali Avcu and the dean of the Faculty of International Relations Akbota Zholdasbekova discussed the possibilities of opening double degree programs in the fields of international relations, turkology and regional studies.

Rector of the University of Social Sciences noted the timeliness of the initialization of this cooperation: the University is on the verge of opening the Center for Turkic World Studies, as well as the Turkic studies program, the possibility of cooperation with the Eurasian National University would greatly simplify the process. The rector also warmly reacted to the idea of ​​opening ENU Representation at the University of Social Sciences in Ankara and the Representative Office of its University on the basis of ENU on parity terms and proposed the creation of a joint working group. Mr. Mehmet Barca also noted the importance of academic exchange between universities, and also expressed the desire to send a group of researchers of the Turkic World to Astana.

Head of the Department of International Relations, in turn, mentioned ENU project on the establishment of the COPE Center (Center for Conflict and Peace Studies) and proposed to initiate a joint program similar to that already initiated between MGIMO and the University of Social Sciences. Also, madam Havva Kok Arslan, stressed the need to speed up the process of signing a Memorandum of Understanding between  two Universities.

The editor of the magazine Insight Turkey Muhiddin Ataman suggested scientists from ENU to take part in the filling of his magazine. Moreover, he noted the opportunity to devote one of the future issues of the magazine to Kazakhstan. We believe in further fruitful cooperation!
