Phd Students of L.N.Gumilyov ENU visited Nigde Omer Halisdemir University in the framework of foreign scientific-research internship in Turkey

PhD students of specialties “6D020200 - International Relations” Bolysbekova M.K., Alkevev A.K, “6D050200-Political Science” Dosmakhambetuly G., “6D050500-Regional Studies” Mustafayev B.Zh. and M. Kairgaliyev  visited Nigde Omer Halisdemir University in the framework of foreign scientific-research internship in Turkey. It is noteworthy that the University proudly bears the name of the national hero and serviceman Omer Halisdemir, who accomplished the feat and sacrificed his life for the triumph of democracy and the freedom of citizens of the country.

This trip of our PhD students and the study of the research experience of the partner university became possible thanks to the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the rectors of  L.N. Gumilyov ENU Sydykov E.B. and the Rector of the O. Khalisdemir University, Muhsin Kar,.

This document was signed on the initiative and direct support of the Director of the Center for Internationalization and Image of the L.N. Gumilyov ENU, PhD, Professor Seyit Ali Avcu, in spring of 2018.

The Vice-Rector of the University, Professor Ilyas Gokhan kindly met the delegation of our phd students. As professor said the university was established in 1992, engaged in the education of students and research in the field of science, technology, art and sports. The vice-rector believes that the task of the university is to prepare specialists with  own cultural values and the human who are able to protect them. According to his opinion, graduates, having advanced knowledge of science and technology and fulfilling their duties, will be able to adequately contribute to the successful development of their countries and regions. To fulfill this mission, the university maintains an internationally competitive potential. At the same time, Mr. Ilyas Gekkhan is extremely pleased with the implementation of the provisions of the joint Memorandum between our universities and attaches great importance to the development of educational and scientific cooperation with the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, including the implementation of joint programs in the fields of bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral programs and training of teaching staff.

At the same time, the Phd students held a number of meetings with the faculty staff of the university and took part in their classes. Thus, they participated in lectures and consultations on the methods of conducting scientific research of the Head of the Department of International Relations and Political Sciences, of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Professor Mehmet Serkan Taflyoglu. Mr. Taflyoglu spoke about the areas of work and the peculiarities of teaching at the department and noted the importance of the prospects for joint cooperation of the international relations, regional studies and political sciences departments. Particularly interesting was the discussion with the lecturer of problems in the study of integration processes, aspects of regional security and the world diplomacy.

Meetings with the professor of the department of modern Turkish dialects and literature of the faculty of science and arts Professor Hikmet Korash and professor Ozzhan Yenicheri, who told the guests about the problems of development of social and political science in Turkic-speaking countries and the rules of writing research in Turkey, became very useful and interesting for phd  students.

The functioning of the Turkish-Kazakhstan Cultural and Educational Center at the University, which opened its doors on June 18 of this year, was a great help in the research work of phd students.

This center was opened by the delegation of L.N. Gumilyov ENU. Headed by the first vice-rector Moldazhanova Assemgul Aleksandrovna, which included the director of the Center for Internationalization and Image Seyit Ali Avcu and the dean of the faculty of international relations Zholdasbekova Akbota Niyazovna. This center, which the phd students visited first, became a good platform for them to meet with faculty members and doctoral students at Nigde University, followed by a discussion of foreign materials and sources needed for further research. From the Turkish side, the coordinator of this center is the specialist of the international relations department, the Erasmus program coordinator Dr. Julia Urundi.

Phd students in their research work use the library fund of the university and the Turkish-Kazakhstan center, they are engaged in the search for scientific literature and the necessary materials for writing publications and dissertation research.

Also useful in terms of search and using materials from Western and Eastern researchers was a visit by a phd students of  the library of the Mahmud Kashgari Sino-Uygur Research Center at Nigde University.

 

For Reference: The Omer Halisdemir University, founded in 1992, is located in Central Anatolia, in the city of Niyde and occupies an important place in the historical, cultural, scientific and educational life of Turkey. The university is a higher specialized educational institution in the humanities, exact and natural sciences, as well as art and sports.

The strategy of the university focuses on the active combination of academic learning in faculties with the functioning of research institutes and centers.

Currently, the university has 10 faculties, 3 research institutes, 3 academic colleges, 6 vocational schools and the Turkish State Music Conservatory.

To date, the faculty of the university is over 1000 people, the number of students has exceeded 28 thousand people who are studying at the bachelor, master and phd levels.
