For the Department of Oriental Studies, it is a great honor to be awarded a prize in the oldest oriental center of Russia - Kazan University, which was created in 1804. It was here that in 1807 for the first time at the university level teaching of Oriental languages was organized at the Department of Oriental Languages, headed by Kh. D. Fren (later from 1818 to 1842 - Director of the Asian Museum, the forerunner of the current Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences).

Arsen’s victory also has a special symbolic meaning in the year of celebrating the 20th anniversary of the creation of the “Eurasian” school of oriental studies. Exactly 20 years ago, in 1999, the Faculty of Oriental Studies was opened at Eurasian University, which in 2000 was restructured into the Department of Oriental Studies, which currently exists.
