Voice of Youth: Uniting the World to Tackle Climate Change

October 28, 2021 M. Narikbayev Kazakh State Law University hosted an event on the topic: "The voice of youth: uniting the world to tackle climate change", in which the team of students of the Faculty of International Relations of the L.N. Gumilyov ENU took an active part. Our team was represented by 3-4 year students of the International Relations EP: Didar Aserbekova, Aruzhan Bergeneva, Sherkhan Nurtaza, Ayazhan Isaeva, Nursulu Kaliaskar and Daniyar Satybayev. The event was intended to inspire and encourage young Kazakhstan people to seek solutions to the climate crisis.

This event was organized on the eve of the 26th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC COP-26), which will be held from October 31 to November 12, 2021 in Glasgow.

The debates were organized by KazGUU in cooperation with the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator, the British Embassy and the Italian Embassy in the Republic of Kazakhstan. At the meeting, the UN Resident Coordinator in the Republic of Kazakhstan, Ms. Michaela Friberg-Storey, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom to the Republic of Kazakhstan, Ms. Kathy Leach, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy to the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. Marco Alberti, made their presentations.

During the discussion, students of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, KAZGUU and Nazarbayev University, raised the acute topic of environmental pollution, and presented their practical recommendations for solving the problems of climate change.

The team of our university prepared a presentation on the topic “Waste Management - a waste management system”, in which the concept of a waste management system was considered, the experience of the world's leading countries in this area was shown, and recommendations were given for improving the waste management system in our country.

After the end of the official part, the participants of the event had the opportunity to communicate with honored guests personally and ask some questions.
