Scientific activity of the faculty of the Department of Oriental

 

Studies Currently all teachers of the Department of Oriental Studies have a basic education. Of them with academic degrees -65%.

An important area of activity of the teaching staff implementing the educational program is conducting scientific research. The Department of Oriental Studies, represented by the head and teaching staff, annually holds conferences, round tables, scientific seminars. Thus, among the scientific events of the department in recent years, the following can be distinguished:

- On November 13, 2020, the international scientific and practical conference "Eastern countries in the context of modern international relations: problems and new research approaches" was held.

- On January 28, 2021, an international scientific and methodological round table "Modern paradigms of teaching and research of the history of the East" was organized.

- In March-May 2021, within the framework of the IRN project "The Eurasian community and Central Asia", the department organized a seminar on a weekly basis (total number – 15 lectures), which was attended by professors from Japan, the Republic of Korea, China, Iran, Turkey, Egypt, Russia, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan. They delivered lectures to students of the Department of Oriental Studies on bachelor's and Master's degree programs.

- On November 1, 2022, the international scientific and practical conference "Traditions and New Paradigms of the study of Eastern Civilization" was held.

In 2018, the department released a collective textbook in the state language "Shygys elderinin zhana zaman tarikhy".

Over the past 2 years, the faculty of the department has published 12 articles with an impact factor, 5 scientific monographs, 4 textbooks in the state language, 1 textbook in English (edition of the Russian Federation).

Within the framework of international cooperation, the Department together with the scientific and educational center "ELGER" at the Caucasus University (Kars, Turkey) organized scientific conferences at the Faculty of International Relations in an online format on the zoom platform:

- XVIII International Scientific Conference "The Past and Future of the Turkic World", attended by more than 50 representatives of scientific and academic circles of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkey (September 25, 2021),

- XXX international scientific online symposium "Building cultural bridges to the future", dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan (September 30, 2022).

Thanks to the efforts of the teachers of the Department of Oriental Studies, ENU has its own fundamental school of Sinology, Arabic studies and Turkology.

Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Kayyrken T.Z. is a scientist–writer, translator, author of numerous works on the history and culture of China, the history of the Turkic peoples in Chinese sources (including "Kytay adebieti", "X-XIX gasyrlardagi kazak-oirat katynastary", "Umytylgan republic: Shygys Turkistan kazaktarynn ult-azattyk kozgalysy (1940-1949 lj.)", "Oiratnama: Zhangaria memleketinin kalyptasuy men damuy, joyluy", "Kone turki eskertkishterindegi kytay zhazbalary", "Tastagy tarikh kone turki ustindaryn kytaisha matini", "Kytai tarikhy: erte zaman zhane ortagasyrlar", translation of the works of the Chinese scientist Su Beihai "Kazak madeniyetinin tarikhy" and "Kazaktyn zhalpa tarikhy. Erte zamannan – XX gasyrdyn birinshi zhartysyna dein" (4 volumes), "Kazakhstan tarikhyna katysty kolzhazbalar men sirek kitaptar (uzymdyk monograph)" (2020), "Kultegin eskertkishi. Tarikhi-derektanulyk taldau" (2022). In 2019, he was awarded the Kultegin Prize for outstanding achievements in the field of Turkology. Doctor of  Philological Sciences, Professor S.A. Tuleubayeva, graduate of the Department of Arabic Language and Literature of the Faculty of Literature and Humanities of the University. Sidi Muhammad bin Abdillah (Morocco), winner of the intra-university competition "Eurasia Maktanyshy-2009", holder of the title "Best Teacher of 2013", badge "For Merits in the development of science of the Republic of Kazakhstan" (2020), is recognized in the republic as a simultaneous and consecutive translator from Arabic into Kazakh/Russian and vice versa She translated during the I-VII Congresses of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, visits of heads and high-ranking officials of Arab states to Kazakhstan, visits of the country's top leadership to Arab countries, etc.). Author of more than 200 scientific, popular scientific articles, translations, monograph "One Thousand and one nights in the Kazakh folklore tradition" (2009), 5 textbooks "Arabic. Texts of event content" (2008), "Arab tili. Okiga matinder" (2012), "Arabic in the field of economics" (2014), "Arabic studies in Kazakhstan" (2020), "Classical and Modern Oriental Studies" (2022). He deals with the problems of Oriental studies, Arabic studies, Farabi studies, Islamic studies, general linguistics, language theory, history and culture of the countries of the East, linguoculturology, linguistic source studies, translation studies, historical source studies, intercultural communication, Islamic medieval studies, Middle Eastern studies.science.

Candidate of Historical Sciences  Z.S. Ilyasova is the author of the textbook "Desht-i-Kipshak Arab historical and geographical sources of the XIII-XV centuries", "Historiography and historiography of Arab countries" (2019), textbook "History of Arab countries (XVI-XIX centuries)" (2020).

PhD doctors G.U. Birimkulova, A.U. Isaev, A.U. Tyulubaeva specialize in the problems of linguistics, literature, methods of teaching Oriental languages (Chinese, Persian), translation studies, history, ethnology, regional studies and international relations, geopolitics and diplomacy of Eastern and Western countries. PhD G.U.Birimkulova is the author of the monograph "The Caspian region in the system of trans-regional relations between China and the EU".

The scientific interests of Arabists of the Department of Candidates of Philological Sciences A. Alibekuly and G.K. Kurmangali also cover classical topics related to various aspects of medieval Arab-Muslim civilization..A. Alibekuly is the author of the monograph "Turkic–Kipchak literature in Egypt", G. Kurmangali published a monograph entitled "The Literary heritage of Akhmet Yugineki".

A great contribution to the scientific potential of the department is made by well–known Kazakh historians - Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor B.J. Abzhapparova (author of the works "Yezhelgi Shygys tarikhy", "Modern oriental historical processes. Training manual", "Korea tarikhy: yezhelgi zhane orta gasyrlarda", "Ortalyk Asia muddeler togysynda"). Candidate of Historical Sciences, Professor K.M. Ilyasova (Alash scholar, author of the works "Orta gasyrlardagi Asia zhane Africa elderin tarikhy", "Arab elderin tarikhy (XVI-XIX gg.)", Candidate of Historical Sciences, Professor A.M. Azmukhanova (a specialist in jadidism, author of the works "Kazak madeniyet tarikhnamasyn theory maseleri", "Kazak khalkyn ortagasyrlar tarikhy (12-zhyldyk experimentaldy mektepke arnalgan anthology)", "Rukhani zhangyru: Kazak madeniyetinin tarikhnamasy ( XIX gasyr sony-XX gasyr basy)", "Halykaralyk katynastardy zertteu adisteri", "Initiatives of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the International Arena").

Candidate of Historical Sciences K.M. Ilyasova in 2019, together with Candidate of Historical Sciences Z.S. Ilyasova, published the book "Arab elderin tarikhy (XVI-XIX gg.), in 2021 – the textbook "Orta gasyrlar tarikhy (Shygys)".

St. lecturer of the department B.K. Makangali in 2019. He completed his doctoral studies at the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

Since 2022, under the guidance of Professor of the Department Kayyrken T.Z., a project is being conducted on the topic: "The historical and geographical position of the ancient and medieval cities of Syrdarya, Talas and Semirechye: based on Chinese and Arabic sources" - AR14871737.
