The Department of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan was established on June 28, 2013 in accordance with the Memorandum between the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan and the L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University. It is a structural subdivision of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan.
Mission
The department is a service department and provides scientific, educational and educational components in the university program; is engaged in the development of unified scientific and methodological approaches in the implementation of state ethnopolitics; involves the youth student community in the development of policies for the formation of Kazakh identity.
New projects
In the 2021-2022 academic year, the Department of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan together with the Department of Political Science for the first time launched a new two – year master's program "Ethnopolitology-21", which has no analogues in universities of Central Asia.
Scientific activity and international partnership
The teaching staff of the APK department provides scientific guidance for master's and doctoral dissertations, the results of scientific research are published in international scientific journals of Scopus, Web of Science, articles with the RSCI index, articles in publications included in the List of scientific publications of the MOES RK.
The department actively cooperates with foreign universities and experts, including professors from: Sofia University (Bulgaria), Russian State University for the Humanities (Russia), Istanbul University (Turkey), Saratov State University named after N. G. Chernyshevsky (Russia), International Institute of Central Asia (Uzbekistan), Siberian Institute of Public Administration and Management (Russia), Astrakhan State University (Russia), etc. Humanitarian ties have been established with the national universities named after T. Shevchenko, I. Franko of Ukraine.

Public activities
In 2014, the Republican Association of Departments of the APK was established on the basis of the L. N. Gumilev ENU, which unites departments of this direction from all regions of Kazakhstan. The basic department of the Association was the Department of the APK of the L. N. Gumilyov ENU.
The Association is an important socially significant, scientific and methodological center that contributes to the development of educational programs for the formation and strengthening of the Kazakh identity. Since December 2020, the Association has the status of a legal entity as the Republican Public Association "Shanyrak" and assists the departments of the APK in the exchange of work experience, coordination of activities and the development of common approaches.
In 2020, the Department of the APK of the L. N. Gumilyov ENU developed a new Standard Regulation on the department, which was signed by the Chairman of the Board - Rector E. B. Sydykov, sent to the leadership of Kazakhstani universities as a recommendation.
The Association of Departments organizes international conferences at its regional sites, issues methodological manuals, develops video lecture cycles in Kazakh and Russian, which are used in the educational process https://youtube.com/channel/UC5hbMiV_5vBQLxIQ5uqHntQ.
As of September 2021, there are 32 active departments and centers of the APK in the system of education and science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, including 28 departments and centers of the APK in universities, 1 Department at the Institute of History and Ethnology named after Ch.Valikhanov KN MES RK, 2 in colleges and 1 in school.
