Student of the faculty of international relations has been selected as one of the five mentees of the “Encouraging Excellencies”

Assem Yekhsan, a final-year student of the faculty of international relations, has been selected as one of the five mentees (the only one from Kazakhstan) of the “Encouraging Excellencies” mentoring program organized by Women In International Security (WIIS) Austria. WIIS Austria is part of WIIS Global, the premier global network dedicated to advancing the leadership and professional development of women in the field of international peace and security.

The goal of “Encouraging Excellencies” is connecting young women with experienced diplomats to offer guidance in career related matters and encourage them to enter a career in international politics.

Assem has been paired with Natasha Cayer, Ambassador of Canada to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). Through remote counseling  mentees will be receiving career advice (such as support with their CV or interview training), helping them build a professional network and gaining relevant insight into international politics. The period of mentoring will be at least one year but may be extended up to three years.

Through empowering young women, organization wishes to improve female students’ opportunities to take on leadership roles at all levels of decision-making in political and public life as well as working towards gender equality in international peace and security.
