On 16th of February 2018, professor of International Relations Department, Faculty of Political Science and Law of Allameh Tabataba’i University Dr. Majid Reza Momeni delivered a lecture titled “Connectivity and New Regionalism in the Middle East and Central Asia: The Role of Iran and Kazakhstan” for the students of “Oriental Studies” major and faculty members of Oriental studies Department.

During his lecture, Dr. Momeni has emphasized the significance of a number of changes that have been taking place in recent years, which enabled the individual regions gain more independent weight, thus creating an opportunity for the emergence of inter-regional integration. Dr. Momeni emphasized the roles of Iran and Kazakhstan in forging links between the two enormous and strategically crucial regions such as the Middle East and Central Asia. By the same token, a special attention has been paid to the notion of “connectivity” among the people, i.e. “mental connectivity” and its positive impact on maintaining a regional stability and developing an inter-regional integration.

The students of the Iranian studies specialty, “Oriental Studies” major and faculty members had a chance to pose questions on the regional and foreign policy of Iran, which in turn produced an interesting and fruitful discussion among the members of the audience during the lecture.
