Open class on the topic «Education. Professions»

On 4 December 2020, the planned open class «Education. Professions» of the Senior lecturer of the Foreign Languages Department, Faculty of International Relations, L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, Kunsulu Yergaliyeva was held with the second-year students of the specialty "Translation Studies".

The purpose of the practical lesson was to develop listening and speaking skills, the tasks was to consolidate the vocabulary on the topic «Education. Professions» and develop grammatical skills on the topic «Sequence of Tenses in Indicative Mood (the present and past tenses)».

For lecturers, this event is an incentive for the development of creative ideas, the development of new methods and technologies, and the improvement of teaching methods, in particular, a foreign language. The Eurasian National University regularly conducts advanced training courses for University lecturers "Digital skills of a modern lecturer", which has a positive impact on improving the methodology of teaching disciplines, especially in the context of distance learning. These courses helped Yergaliyeva K.O. to apply the knowledge gained in practice.

At the open French class, K.O. Yergaliyeva used the online platforms answergarden and prezi, video and audio materials were presented in Power point.

        While working on a video recording dedicated to the translator's specialty, a discussion was organized about the future profession of students. Students expressed their opinions on the future of the specialty with genuine interest. This organization of the pedagogical process contributed to the development of logical thinking and speaking, the students were given the task of creative search about the types of upcoming activities and the qualities necessary for a future translator. Students were offered a series of exercises to consolidate thematic vocabulary. The audio and video materials used contributed to the development of listening skills. This type of work was used to increase students' cognitive interest and develop their future professional needs.

        The grammatical topic «Sequence of Tenses in Indicative Mood» was reviewed using the prezi platform. Yergaliyeva K.O. prepared a special methodological development with exercises that motivated students to form their speech grammatically correctly. Students learned a complex grammatical structure and showed the effectiveness of its use in performing tasks proposed by the lecturer.

        

The group's students were active in completing the lecturer's tasks, demonstrating good knowledge of the French language, which was clearly observed at all stages of training.

The open class was attended by the head of the Department, PhD Meirambekova L.K. and the teaching staff of the Department. The head of the Department thanked K.O. Yergaliyeva for hosting an open class at the highest methodological level with the use of innovative technologies. Senior lecturer of the Department Saliyeva D.O. noted that colleagues learned a lot of interesting things, in particular, the use of online platforms and real-time discussion of the results.
