Department of International Relations held the International Scientific and Practical Conference of the Third Tyuryakulov Readings

On November 29, 2018 the Department of International Relations L.N. Gumilyov ENU held International Scientific and Practical Conference of the third Tyuriakulov Readings. The tradition of holding an international scientific-practical conference was laid back in 2013.

The objectives of the conference were a more in-depth study of the heritage of Nazir Tyuryakulov as a diplomat, state and public figure, orientalist, and also a discussion of current problems of international relations and foreign policy of modern Kazakhstan.

The conference was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, diplomatic missions, faculty, students, undergraduates and doctoral students.

The plenary session was opened with a welcoming speech by Mr. Somzhurek B.Zh., Vice-Rector of L.N.Gumilyov ENU for international relations and innovations. In his speech, the Vice-Rector thanked the guests for their participation and noted the contribution of N. Tyuryakulov in the development of diplomacy of the Republic of Kazakhstan. On behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Mr. M. Kalizhanov, Deputy Head of the State Protocol Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, delivered a congratulatory speech.

  

Representatives of the diplomatic corps were represented by the Deputy Head of the diplomatic mission of the Republic of Kuwait - Advisor Mr. Khalil Al-Ouazzan, First Secretary of the Libyan Embassy in Kazakhstan Mr. Faraj Haiba, First Secretary of the Azerbaijan Embassy in Kazakhstan Mr. Mammad Bagirov. Representatives of these diplomatic missions made a congratulatory speech. I would especially like to single out the statement of Mr. Bagirov, who noted that Nazir Tyuryakulov is not only a Kazakhstani diplomat, but a diplomat of the whole Turkic world.

Also at the plenary session, invited professors of our university - Prof. Kulbushan Variku (J. Neru University, New Delhi, India), Prof. Masud Imani Kalesar (Editor of Euronews news, Lyon, France), Prof.Punit Gaur (St.J.Neru, New Delhi, India), Prof. Kamen Velichkov (Bulgaria) and Prof. Peter Turner (Ukraine) made very interesting reports about different issues of contemporary international relations.

The conference worked in the following four sections:

1. Contribution of Nazir Turiakulov to the establishment of Diplomatic Service of the Republic of Kazakhstan and modern diplomacy;

2. Actual problems of international security in XXI-st century;

3. The role of digital diplomacy in the era of globalization;

4. Economic diplomacy in the modern system of international relations.

The working languages of the conference were Kazakh, Russian, English. During the work of the sections, the speakers gave comprehensive and informative reports and there was an interesting discussion.

In general, the work of the conference was fruitful. At the closing of the conference the results were summed up, the best performances were marked.
