PhD student at the Faculty of IR spoke at the international conference "Youth as Protagonists of Change: Reconciliation and Peace" in Cartagena, Colombia

On November 29, 2018, Aidar Kurmashev, a PhD student at the Faculty of International Relations of the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, spoke at the international conference "Youth as Protagonists of Change: Reconciliation and Peace" in Cartagena, Colombia with the participation of the President of the Colombian Senate Ernesto Macías, Mayor of Cartagena Pedrito Pereira, Chairman of the South-South Cooperation Council Viktor Sebek, Chairman of the Mahatma Gandhi Foundation Ela Gandhi, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassadors Hedva Ser and Cecile Guidote Álvarez, etc. The presentation of the doctoral student was devoted to the policy of Kazakhstan in the field of ensuring ethnic tolerance: "Multiculturalism in Kazakhstan as a guarantor of peace." 

 

In particular, the key message was the peculiarities of public policy and social structure, the model of which can serve as an example for foreign countries. The role of the Constitution and other legislative acts, the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, the media, education and upbringing in the creation of multi-ethnic tolerant reality in Kazakhstan was also noted. Other participants of the conference expressed interest in studying the public policy of Kazakhstan, as well as continuing cooperation in the academic field. At the same time, contacts have been established for further cooperation with Gran Colombia University and ICESI University.
