On October 10, 2017  Ambassador of Austria to the Republic of Kazakhstan Dr. Gerhard Sailler delivered a lecture to students of the Faculty of International Relations. Vice-Rector for International Relations and Innovations of  L.N.  Gumilyov  ENU  B. Zh. Somzhurek welcomed the Ambassador, introduced the high guest to the audience. 

Dr. Gerhard Sailler  is a professional diplomat, trained at the University of Graz (Austria), the University of Rouen (France) and the University of Minho (Portugal). In 2013-2016 years Gerhard Sailler was Deputy Director of the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna. Since August 2016 he has being  Ambassador of Austria to Kazakhstan and also (concurrently) in Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan. He regularly delivers lectures at universities and institutes on international relations and published a number of scientific articles.

In his lecture the Ambassador focused on the conceptual and functional issues of European integration, the upcoming Austrian presidency of the EU in 2018. Dr. Gerhard Sailler also outlined his vision of EU policy in Central Asia and Kazakh-Austrian relations. After his lecture  the Ambassador answered questions of bachelor and master students.
